SailGP arrives in València: the world’s fastest catamarans land in the Mediterranean
On September 5 and 6, 2026, València will host the Spain Sail Grand Prix for the first time, one of the most spectacular sailing competitions on the international scene.
And when we talk about sailing, it is worth setting aside for a moment the classic image of a boat cruising along calmly.
In SailGP, national teams compete aboard the F50s, high-tech catamarans capable of lifting out of the water thanks to their foils and reaching speeds of more than 100 km/h.
Over two days, València’s coastline will become a true race circuit on the sea, with high-speed maneuvers, overtaking, and boats sailing practically at the limit.
The championship’s arrival also has something special about it: València will make its debut as a SailGP venue in 2026, and it will do so with guaranteed continuity, as the city has been chosen to host the competition over the coming years.
For those of us who experience the sea beyond the beach, this is one of those dates worth marking on the calendar.
